Mall of America

2 Moms
3 kids
1 Mall of America
What were we thinking????
We made it! The 4 hour car ride went very
well the kids were great. The outlets we stopped
at on our way there were a hit. First stop in
Minneapolis was IKEA....okay Amazing store...
loved it. Spent as long as the kids would let us.
You'd think we'd be tired by now but we just had to
go to the mall before we checked in to our hotel.
Danna and Adalee

So we ate the Rainforest Cafe in the Mall.
Addie loved all the jungle animals that would
"come to life" every 10 minutes and the
big fish tank we got to sit by as we ate our dinner!
After dinner we check in our hotel and survived our
sleepless night between the kids taking turns
waking up at random times during the night. ugh.
Good timing for our next day at the mall right?
Sleep deprived Mothers+sleep deprived children+ Mall of America= A LOT OF PATIENTS!
However I have to say looking back on it all the
kids were very good and cooperated well.

LEGO LAND....need i say more
she was hooked.

Addies first theme park ride! Blue skidoo.

Addie actually took this picture! I was being "brave"
to stand by the big shark tank to get a picture. She wouldn't let
me take her picture by the tank because she was scared
so I asked her if she wanted to take mine
by the tank and to my surprise she did so this was the outcome.
she did a pretty good job i think.
He was my little trooper. Although he was
naughty during the night, he made up for it at the
mall and took all his naps (good naps) in his car seat in the stroller
while we shopped and walked around. Thank you Trey.
This was so fun. The Mall has a huge aquarium on the lower
level that has huge underwater tunnel so you can watch
the fish/sharks/sting rays swim right over you.
Addie loved watching the big sharks swim over her
and the black and white polka dot sting ray swim right
up the glass in front of her.
This was at the end of our underwater adventure. She got
to play more before it was mom's turn to play aka shop!
We had to take turns all day!
My friend and I were under the impression that there was just one giant
roller coaster in the mall only to find out that
there is a whole theme park in the middle of the mall.
The mall was 4 levels high with just about any store you
could imagine...even a dollar tree!! we thought that was funny!
Over all we had a fabulous/exhausting time! I will go back!

Halloween 2009

"Gimmie some ones!"
(sorry only people in my family will understand that phrase or think its funny! Basically I used to call
M&M's "ones" when I was little because when ever some one offered them to me they
would say, "do you want one" so i associated them as "Ones!")
....Happy Halloween! Here are our cute
little M&M's!

Treyster, our plump little peanut M&M!

And Addie girl, our slender plain blue M&M!

Grandpa and Grandma Hansen treated the kids with gift cards to "Old McDonald"(as Addie calls it). Since they couldn't be here to take them Tyler and I took them the night before Halloween for dinner. Addie loved her Happy Meal and Trey loved being around all the food! He actually stole a nugget out of Addie's hand when she wasn't looking...it was hilarious!

And here's the stash of the night!

We tried training Addie all day to pick only Gold shiny packages with red writing on them.(twix). Guess our training didn't work so well as she came home with only 3! Shucks.

Over all we had a great halloween and enjoyed a wonderful dinner and talent show at our ward party then topped off the night with some cold Trunk-or-Treating! Addie had a blast and made sure she and Daddy went to every car. She didn't miss a single one!

A New Tradition

Last year we ate soup out of a pumpkin on
Halloween night. I thought it was so fun I
decided to do it again this year. The best part
about it was Addie was able to join in the
fun of "gutting" out the pumpkins to help prepare
them for our fun dinner!

Ready to dive in! Notice the spoon...she did not
like getting her hands in that slimey gooey pumpkin
stuff!
This is how it starts

cut the pumpkins in half

Clean them out
Enjoy an appetizer while your waiting for dinner....yummy roasted pumpkin seeds!

And soup is on! We did cauliflower soup with a little orange coloring for the full festive look! Addie sure loved eating her soup out of her pumpkin.

Why pay the money when.....

You can make it yourself!
My poor candles have been bare this season because
i'm too cheap to go out and buy candle wreaths until the
end of the season when they go majorly on sale...
I was explaining this to my mom when she said,
"why don't you just make your own!"...DUH!
So....
Heres what Addie and I did this morning/afternoon together!
Our very own Candle wreath and I love it!
All you need:
*Some wire
*Fresh picked Fall colored leaves
*Candle to put it around
Just string on the wire a lot of fun leaves to your desired length
and waa laa a beautiful festive candle wreath!
The best thing is Addie and I could do this together.
We spent the morning collecting leaves in a brown paper
bag. Addie absolutely loved going outside and helping
me pick leaves of all different colors. Then when little
brother went down for his nap she helped me string
on the leaves onto the wire while picking out what leaf
we would do next!

Trey's many faces....

This is Trey about 98% of the time...Happy as can be.
Love this little guy and all the smiles and cheeks that come with him!

the look of Concentration/determination

Wasn't me......the "GUILTY" look

The I'm poopin' my pants look. (and he really was)!

Okay so this picture is Trey in a nut shell...
Eating and Happy.
The kid would eat anything
and everything if I'd let him. This was his first time with
"real food." Yummy Carrots.

And last....so SAD :(. We don't see this face very often
so I had to capture the moment!

From the mouth of Babes

Tyler had just left to go to the church for Weblos and left
Addie and I at the kitchen table finishing dinner. As we sat
therefinishing up dinner Addie remembered that
we never said a prayer. She was right we had
totally forgotten so I asked her if she wanted
to say it and of course she didn't...she told me too. So as
I'm praying I was getting a little emotional....it had been
a long day with the kids and I needed some extra help
from above. When I finished Addie looked up at me
and noticed I had tears in my eyes
then proceeded to ask, "are you sad Mommy?"
And I responded, "Yes I am a little sad."
I grabbed my napkin and started
wiping my tears away when Addie
then asked, "Are you wiping your sad away Mommy?"
Then I laughed. Its amazing how fast our
prayers can be answered when
in desperate need!

State Fair

I'm back to blogging but will be sparatic as I can only see half
of my screen on my computer which makes for a longer
blogging process and much patience...something I don't
have a lot of at the end of my days! Anyway, on to better
things....THE IOWA STATE FAIR! Ty won tickets
at a school drawing so I packed up the kids, went
and picked up Ty at the school and away we went to the fair.

Heres a Cute little cow and heres.....

.....The Worlds smallest Cow.
This is a regular cow only like 5 times smaller
than normal. It was only about 2.5 feet off the ground!

Making her way to the splash pad! We saved this
stop for the very end after getting hot walking around.

Last year we ventured out and tried deep fried Twinkies
this year it was Funel Cakes! We wondered what was
so great about those funel cakes...then we had one and oh
boy are they good!
Spending time with Daddy is the best!
Addie loved watching all the rides
but didn't want to try any out!
See the big ferris wheel in the backround...
I really wanted to ride that....
maybe someday.....
For now just a picture in front of it will have to do!

Sewing Project #1 on the list.....The Market Skirt

Addie's Market Skirt

This is the Market Skirt made by
Dana from her MADE blog. I seriously devour
this blog. She is amazing and loves to share
her ideas and then makes tutorials for
all the fun things she makes. So with a
serger now this was the first project on the list.

This was one of her final products.

And here is my attempt...Not exactly pro but it fits
and Addie likes her new skirt.
